Summer camps in Egypt and Jordan
Participants of the summer camp in Egypt.
Last summer, two summer camps were made possible by the deaf club Peace Dove for the Deaf. The first was in the Egyptian city of Alexandria, where about 60 deaf men and women received 6 days of education on Biblical subjects. Director Sahel sent a video message in which he talks about the two camps. Below you will find a link to this video.
They taught about about John the Baptist, the parable of the sower, the spiritual armour and about the ‘broad’ way of Satan and the ‘narrow’ way of Jesus. The deaf participants learned a lot and prayed together. Of course, there was also time to relax and play games. They enthusiastically asked about the possibilities for a camp next year.
Sahel mentioned two participants in particular, who had done very bad things. They both came to Sahel to talk and now, when they have contact online, Sahel sees that their lives are improving. Sahel mentioned it was God’s time to put seeds in their lives that came to growth. What a special ministry!
Please pray for all the participants and especially the two men mentioned above, that the seeds that have been sown will bear fruit in their lives and that they will hold on to their new faith, even though there are few places they can go to learn more about the Bible and about Jesus.
Explanation of the ‘broad and narrow way’ at the Jordanian one-day camp.
In Jordan, a one-day camp was held for 24 participants. There too, Sahel spoke about the ‘broad’ and the ‘narrow’ path. However, the deaf found it difficult to apply it in their own lives. The choice for the ‘narrow’ path is far from easy and they doubt whether they really want to give up things for Jesus. Sahel asks for prayer for these Christians, so that their faith may become visible in their lives, even if that is not easy in their environment.
