Black, red and white hearts at the summer camps

Last summer, two camps for the Deaf were held again, organized by Peace Dove for the Deaf. The camp in Egypt lasted five days, the Jordanian camp lasted one day. The theme was about three types of hearts: black, red, and white. The Deaf people understood director Sahel’s explanation very well.

The hotel was located in the Egyptian city of Marsa Matrouh, near the beach. One participant said: “The hotel was nice, the food was delicious, and the teaching was very good. It was great that we, as Deaf people, could be together like that. The first day, we all had black hearts put on our heads. We didn’t like that very much. But then Sahel taught us that it could be changed to red and even white, because the Lord Jesus can wash away our sins. God can change us.”

The hotel didn’t have a meeting room available, but the management decided to convert the lobby into a meeting room. Sahel gave his Bible lessons there. The owner, a Muslim himself, was happy with that. He was even curious about the hearts on the t-shirts and wanted to know more. He thought Sahel was a pastor, but Sahel explained that he was “just” a servant. There weren’t many guests present, but after Sahel’s group arrived, more and more guests arrived, and it became busier. The hotel owner found this very special and told Sahel that it might have been that God was blessing the hotel through the Deaf group.

Sahel says that there is a great need for summer camps next year. He would like to thank everyone who made these camps possible.

“God can

change us”

"We learned a great deal about the Bible. A black heart represents a sinful heart, ever since Adam and Eve. The Lord Jesus cleansed our hearts with his death on the cross. And I am grateful that Jesus did this for us! I am very grateful to Sahel and hope there will be another camp next year."
