The Dutch windmill and more

What was going on? The sails of the mill of Nijeveen suddenly started turning; on a Sunday! That is very unusual. But a visit of the Jordanian delegation to Nijeveen is indeed a special occasion. They were extremely enthusiastic about the visit, which turned out to be a tour in English, including demonstrations of using the windmill’s pulley power and grinding qualities. A great shout out to the volunteers of windmill Korenmolen Sterrenberg!

But of course we also had to discuss how to improve Deaf education and Sign Language teacher and interpreter training. Jordan seems to experience ‘headwind’ in several areas, but maybe our afternoon’s excursion with examples of ingenuity helps us to eventually overcome these difficulties…

During the day Joanne Kolsters and Kars Jongeneel served real Dutch lunch and dinner. It turns out even Jordanians are fond of our ‘hutspot’ and ‘boerenkool’.
