Just be grateful…
Dear reader,
On October 1, 2020, three years ago today, Brother Andrew passed away. The Carpenter’s Son Foundation became orphaned. Normally you would celebrate someone’s birthday, but now we reflect on the anniversary of his death. The loss remains, although the edges seem to be dulling. Time fogs up the memory and perhaps makes it more bearable? Or is it because his work is still visible, but done by other people? Could it be that the memory of him actually becomes stronger as the visibility of his work increases? Could it be that the orphaned feeling diminishes because the family grows? Sometimes meaning is lost when you try to dissect it. Therefore, perhaps it is better to simply be grateful for who Brother Andrew was and could be to others; grateful for people who are working on what he left behind; grateful for the projects that are still growing; grateful for the Father who cares for his children. Maybe we should just be grateful.
